NORAD, what is the right qualification to get a job there?

Posted by African Press International on November 29, 2006

Well, remember Mr Koigi wa Wamwere was a refugee in Norway some years back! Remember that he lived in Koltbotn outside Oslo, the Norwegian capital.

Remember he was politically active and he managed to get back to Kenya and join the main political stream.

Now the man is an assistant minister for information in the country! What a jump!

But one interesting thing is the fact that NORAD never saw him fit to even get a clerical job when he was in Norway.

Wamwere applied for a job in NORAD and was turned down and yet the departments there use English as working language most of the time.

Does this sound as racism?

Do not forget that NORAD in Kenya now must work and listen to Mr Wamwere. Will they look at him as not qualified to be Kenya’s assistant minister in such an important position – that of taking care of the country information ministry.

NORAD – has to wake up and listen to the world. In Norad, jobs are given to relatives and friends of those who already work there.

Like in Africa, you will find Norad bosses in Embassies employing their own relatives, even their own wives.

Can Norad deny this fact? If so, release documentation.

The Pope supports Turkey’s EU membership application!

Posted by African Press International on November 29, 2006

The Pope arrives in Ankara - 28/11/06 The Pope endorsed Turkey’s application to join the European Union yesterday when he held talks with the authorities there during his official visit to the country.

Turkey is largely a Muslim country and the Pope has had huge opposition by nationalist who objected to his visit.

This is seen by many as a step to woe the Muslims in the country to show restraint in their anger against the Pope’s official visit in the country.

The nationalists had demontrated angrily against his visit to the country accusing the Pope for what they consider to be arrogance when he condemned Islam as a violent religion.

Turkey has, for a number of years, tried to get into the EU but has failed because Greece has objected to such membership.

CIA torture cells revealed in EU report!

Posted by African Press International on November 29, 2006

Alleged CIA flight taking off from SpainThe plane is said to have been one the those used in the to transportation  terror suspect from country to country by CIA. Sometimes the plane became a home for the terror suspects for weeks while they were torured, the investigation is said to have revealed. EU nations have all along know about CIA’s secret detention camps in outside the US, a report has concluded following, “months of investigation by a special committee of MEPs led by an Italian, Claudio Fava.”

The report accuses top EU officials of failing to give full details to European parliament. They are accused of being uncooperative. The EU chief for foreign relations Javier Solana is amont those who are strongly criticised in the report.

According to the BBC, “the report echoed allegations made in June by the Council of Europe – Europe’s leading human rights watchdog – that European states were complicit in illegal CIA operations as part of the US-led “war on terror.”

Last September after pressure mounted on the US President George W Bush on the allegations whether he was aware that CIA was using European soil to detain and torture suspected terrorist in their custody Bush “admitted the CIA had used prisons abroad for the secret detention of terror suspects, but he did not specify where the prisons were. The draft report says several EU governments were aware of the CIA’s secret detention and transfer of terror suspects.”

Many suspect may have been tortured and forced to admit terrorist activities even if they are not guilty.

This amounts to human rights abuse by the CIA officials that has given a go-ahead to their officials on the ground.

Vincent Onditi defends Raila Odinga!

Posted by African Press International on November 29, 2006

 “COMMENTARY”

 TO: Mr Korir

Important note:

If you cringe at Raila Odinga’s national political outreach, and you think he did bad in pulling down the ghetos situated on the road grid, and therefore, is not presidential material, then chances are high that it is tribalism inside you that is reacting. If anything, people like you, enjoying  these kind of writting after the second liberation should thank  Raila and those patriots who fought for you so that you can enjoy freedom to write your  article. It is high time Mr. Korir, you arise to defeat tribalism in Kenya. We are coming from dark hard days and nights which lasted 40 years of the history of our country and it is Raila, his father and other patriotic Kenyans who brought this tyrannical period to  an end, when they introduced multiparty politics in our country.

Out of tune with the political situation in your country:

Mr. Korir, Have you fogotten your tribesman-Moi’s reign of terror ?  When he, Biwott, and etc, killed, terorrorised Kenyans, perpetuated ethnic clashes, detaining Kenyans in Nyayo torture chambers, destroying the economy and turning Kenya into one big prison in which three people could not gather without a chief’s permission. You could thank Raila Odinga for risking his life so that you can enjoy second liberation to-day, and stop writting these nonsence on him.

Presidency in Kenya?  Mr. Korir, this question and your articles in general, proves your lack of information about your subject, Kenyan political history in particular and ideas in currency that pervade the management framework of  Kenyan politics and it also proves that, your are suffering from tribalism syndrom. Read more before going international. Don’t show your lack of information in this form to the international community.

Raila to receive award for democracy, transparency and he will jointly share the honour with Ghanian President John Kufuor in Geneva Swiss next month.

The international community also knows of his hard work for democratic change in our country. To gain universal availability and be relevant as a minister, any aspiring national leader should do just what Raila did, and for your information he did the same in Siaya Town.

Every town is build with a plan. And any one going against that plan breaches the law, and any public official allowing such breach is likewise breaching the law. If you live in Norway, I ask you to take a drive by car from Oslo towards Trondheim through to Gimse-about 25km north of Trondheim and you will understand Raila. But if you want stay tribalist and Raila hater, then , it is the tribalism inside you that is reacting, and with this in place, I can’t help you, sorry.

Mr. Vincent Onditi

Right wing Progress Party would like to put Mulla Krekar under house arrest!

Posted by African Press International on November 29, 2006

A Norwegian court has ruled that Mulla Krekar is a security risk. The Progress right wing party, (Fremskrittsparti) would like to have him under house arrest after a recent court verdict.

The party says it will now take the matter in parliament with a possibility of making a law that will give the give the Norwegian authorities to put Krekar in house arrest until he can be deported or he leaves the country on his own.

The party leader Siv Jensen is of the opinion that Krekar must be locked up. She told TV 2 that Norway cannot continue to be a free place where people who have committed serious human rights violations.

In support of the progress party’s call for a new law directed against Krekar, the right wing party leader, Erna Solberg says there is reason to take up the issue in parliament.

Adding that Norway must find a way to deal with people who are a security risk and yet Norway is unable to return them to their countries of origin.

Krekar’s advocate, Arvid Sjødin, says the call for a law because of Krekar’s case is a populistic one “just a political game” by the party to win voters.

Krekar is from Iraq and the Right Wing politicians in Norway have fought him for many years now. They want to send him back after taking back the refugee status he had been granted in the country. Right wing politicians claim he is a security risk. Now they feel they wishes has been heard by the courts.

Sending him out of the country will effectively punish his family who are residence in Norway and by putting him under house arrest amounts to infringement of his rights to free movement.

Uhuru loses right to the Official Opposition seat in parliament to Biwott!

Posted by African Press International on November 29, 2006

I would not want to be in Uhuru’s shoes today even if it was possible. The man who had seen himself near to the presidency by heading a government in waiting, has sleepless nights after Biwott’s take over of Kanu with the blessing of Moi, Kibaki government and Kanu delegates that attended the elections and elevated Mr Nicholas Biwott to a ministerial level, now that he will enjoy allowances like ministers by being in charge of the opposition. Biwott is now leading a government in waiting and will be the presidential candidate for Kanu party.

If he loses, and Kibaki wins re-election, the two may decide to form a coalition government. Such a move locks out Raila Odinga out indefinitely just like his father was punished by Mzee Kenyatta and Moi.

Led by the party secretary-general, Josphine Ojiambo, Kanu leaders yesterday celebrated their registration in Nairobi!

President Kibaki’s government has now legitimised the Government of National Unity by allowing the registration of Mr Nicos (Nicholas) Biwott’s KANU, “The Total Man” that ousted Mr Uhuru Kenyatta as Kanu Chairman.

Biwott will now take over as the leader of the opposition in parliament and will be accorded the respect and opposition leader is entitled to, despite the way the party leadership coup was orchestrated.

While Uhuru is now pondering his next move in the cold, Biwott is now the rightfull leader of Kanu and will take over the GK vehicles and the security detail that Uhuru has been enjoying.

Uhuru, son of the Nation’s founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, is reported to in shock after being dethroned!

Uhuru and his colleagues were misled by Raila Odinga who wanted to use them to push Kanu into joining ODM-K where Raila has a lot of power.

Mr Henry Kosgey, a man Moi had given a blessing by telling the Kalenjins to listen to, disappointed the former president when joined Raila’s ODM-K together with Mr William Ruto. Now the two men must be wondering what to do next. Whether to make up with Biwott and be takne back to Kanu or form a new party.

The duo, including Uhuru say they are planning to go to court to challenge Biwott’s take over. They are forgetting that in Kenya the courts hardly overturn decissions that the government has fingered.

It is interesting to see that Biwott’s group has chosen a woman to be Kanu’s Secretary General. This will lift up Kanu because women will argue that the party has recognised the right of women to be leaders.

As Secretary-General, if the party win elections opening the road to State House, she will be one of the leaders to decide who becomes what in a new government line-up.

The media has now reported that, “Mr Kenyatta as rallied his troops to dismiss the take over and vowed not to quit the Official Opposition seat in Parliament. His group will also not relinquish their positions in the party.”

According to reports, “In the Westminster Parliamentary system inherited from the British, the Official Opposition is regarded as the government in waiting. In that role, Mr Biwott will have to name a Shadow Cabinet whose members will have the first right to respond to business initiated by the government. Flanked by 17 MPs at Parliament Buildings, Mr Kenyatta talked of a scheme by those in Government to destroy Kanu and kill the Opposition.”

Unuru and his group are now publicly complaining saying,”this does not come as a surprise to us. We were aware of this Government ploy to demobilise and destroy the Official Opposition. We dismiss it as complete utter nonsense;” adding that,”the registration of the Biwott group was a move by the President to give legitimacy to the Government of National Unity (GNU).”
