Haakon Rian Ueland says, it is necessary to take children from the minority!

Posted by African Press International on December 4, 2006

  1. Haakon Rian Ueland Says:
December 4th, 2006 at 1:37 am e1/2 a million kroner as a fosterparent? Are you joking?
    Please check your facts.
Here is a quote from Bufetat, Vestfold: “I tillegg til utgiftsdekning (fra kr 3 865 til kr 5 700) pr. måned ytes det godtgjøring etter kommunale satser (kr 5 100).” (In addition to paid expenses (from 3 865,- to 5 700) per month, the pay is 5 100,-).
As far as I can see, this adds up 129 600,- pr. year.
Another issue is – what alternative does the child welfare service have?
    How many African fosterfamilies exist?
How many minority people work in institutions?
Do you actually think it is never necessary to take a child away from their family – no matter its ethnic background?
If this is such a huge problem, how about encouraging minority families to work with these children.

We have decided to publish the comment above from Mr Haakon Rian Ueland. He is reacting to our story on Child Protection Services taking children from the minority parents and giving them to Norwegian families to look after. Those who look after the children taken from the minority families get paid large sums of many.

Ueland, however, disagrees with the facts in our story and he believes that the Barnevernet has no alternative but to take the children.

“NORAD employee found in Norad’s own sauna with a drug-addicted prostitute was arrested,” says our reliable sources.

Posted by African Press International on December 4, 2006

A whistle blower is not a job most people would like to be associated with. Many who have come forward bravely anywhere in this universe, when unhappy about their work place, have been made to suffer as scape-goats, because some working places are managed using family management rules. That means workers must be a unit, and never criticise the system they are part of, even if they discover mismanagemnet that leads to abuse of positions and deep-rooted corruption.

We are now told that Norad is such an institution whereby people cover for each other following the, “massage my back and I massage yours principle,” says our reliable sources.

We reported recently on NORAD’s employment and promotion policies. We also reported that Norad has now agreed to have a meeting with us to discus the issues we have raised. The meeting is yet to take place.

Norad, (Norwegian Agency for International Development), is supposed to be a respectable institution led by professionals and serious government employees who are expected to respect themselves.

According to documents released into our possesion, by our reliable sources, we can now reveal details in a case affecting one employee whose indicent behaviour destroys the image of an institution. Choosing to be anonymous whistle blowers our reliable sources confirm to us that a Norad employee was found in Norad’s sauna with a drug-addicted prostitute and was arrested by security guards. The incident took place about 10 years ago when Norad had offices at Tollbugaten and Nedrevollsgaten. Our sources are saying they did not dare become whistle blowers, because their necks would have been chopped off, but they confirm that the case in question is documented in Norad’s own archives.

The arrest supposedly took place after the security found the man with a drug-addicted prostitute, that he had picked from Tollbugate. It is said that the man took the prostitute into Norad’s premises, where he was found after midnight having a good time in the directorate’s official sauna.

Our reliable sources have stated that the man was never disciplined, but instead he has been promoted over the years and is believed he has now attained the rank of Senior Executive Officer (“senior konsulent” in Norwegian language).

Our investigation into the case has revealed that the man was a junior employee in the position under a clerical officer called “betjent” in the Norwegian language.

After his alleged arrest over ten years ago, when he was ranked junior employee, a position under that of a clerical officer, we are informed that he has climbed up the ladder quickly and has now attained 5 extra scales in salary increase following his first promotion to Executive Officer and thereafter Senior Executive Officer.

We have also been informed that some senior officers in Norad at the time of the incident, complained when they realised that nothing was done to the man. Those who complained were later to get  shocked by the the events that followed, because they discovered that the man, an ethnic Norwegian, had been promoted from his junior position to a higher one, instead of being handed a severe punishment for having taken a drug-addicted prostitute into the premises in the middle of the night.

The question one may now ask is, how many times he may have done the same, before he was arrested by the security, and could it be possible that he is still on it now that he is no longer junior in position, knowing when he did what he did, he was rewarded with no-delayed promotions instead of being sacked. It is possible the man used the sauna for many years, as his prostitution base to satisfy his desires, during the nights when the other employees had gone home.

Taking street prostitutes into a government premises at midnight can easily become disastrous for the institution because one never knows who may accompany them into the premises.

Our interest in Norad’s employment and promotion policies is derived from the gloomy fate the minority associated with the directorate have had to undergo over the years.

Our reliable sources have told us that promotions in Norad are mainly based on, “who knows who in the system” and “who is family to who in the system.”

A government body must not be allowed to manage affairs in this way. The directorate’s day to day activities and projects are public funded using tax payers money. Therefore, the public expects Norad to be a place where no racism or discrimination is used to terrorise employees from the minority races.

Our reliable sources tell us that if it was a non-white person who had been arrested for having behaved as the man with the drug-addicted prostitute, the non-white would have been dismissed immediately, not promoted.

African Press will soon follow up on employment and promotion policies in other ministries and directorates in order to understand what really happens to the workers with different cultural background than that of the ethnic Norwegians.

Our interest is to know how many people with a minority background gets promoted timely, and according to their skills and perfomances in comparison to ethnic Norwegians.

The Norwegian government talks of equality in society, equality in gender, religion and race. Equality is a good agenda if results are achieved to the satisfaction of all parties involved. It becomes a bad agenda, when one group is enslaved by being left behind whele the other group is commended for productivity and awarded promotions.

Looking ahead, how equal is the main society in comparison to the minority living in the country as far as jobs, job promotions, housing and business opportunities is concerned?

We appeal to our readers, who are affected one way or another by what we are detailing here, to have their say.

APN does not believe in silence but action in order to be heard if you are in the minority.
