Am I not talking the truth !!

In just a few minutes driving along a road on the outskirts of Milan in northern Italy, we counted 20 women, almost all African, standing by the kerb.

It was a cold night, but you wouldn’t have guessed it from the outfits they were wearing. 

I used to have sex with many different men. As many as wanted to have sex with me.

Tomissi ! (Kind of pretty african lady with big butt) !!

Would you sell your body to help your family?
We got out of the car, and approached one Nigerian woman who called herself Gioia – Italian for “Joy”.

She was pretty beneath her heavy make-up. We asked her if we could talk to her.

“Maybe later,” she said. It was Saturday night, and we weren’t the only people cruising the roads.

Jobs promise !!!!!!!

It is estimated there are between 10,000 – 20,000 Nigerian prostitutes working in Italy today, not to mention the undercover eastafricans in London and Scandinavia !

Almost all come from Edo state in southern Nigeria.
 
Many Nigerian prostitutes do not see the money they earn.
As yet, no research has been done into why so many come from this one state, but the route may have originally been established by Nigerian women who came over to southern Italy to harvest tomatoes during the 1980s.

Valentina’s story is typical. An old friend offered to bring her to Italy.

“He said finding work here was no problem, there were lots of different jobs I could do like working in a supermarket. I’d even be able to continue my studies,” she said.

“I’d just finished secondary school, but it’s very difficult to go to university in Nigeria. It’s very expensive.”

Promises of good jobs and education lure women like Valentina away from Nigeria.

The women in turn agree to repay hugely inflated costs for arranging documents and transport. But it’s often not until they arrive in Italy that they are told that they will have to prostitute themselves in order to pay off the debt.

Criminal gangs  and cunning old prostitutes !!

Valentina is not her real name. If her identity was revealed she would be in danger from the highly organised criminal gangs who traffic Nigerian women.

There is increasing evidence that the Nigerian criminals are becoming connected with Italian and other European Mafia.

In addition to the transport costs, the women are normally forced into paying hundreds of Euros a month in “rent” for the spots on the road that they solicit from.

Tomissi (again not her real name) is a shy, clever Nigerian who said she was 20 but looked at least two years younger.

After being brought to Italy last year, she had to sell her body on a lonely stretch of motorway outside Turin, and hour and a half west of Milan.

She ran away a couple of weeks ago.

“I used  to have sex with many different men. As many as they wanted to have sex with me. Maybe five, maybe ten different people a day,” she said in a quiet voice.
Can you imagine this !!

“Some would pay me 20 euros, some would only pay 10. If I was really lucky I’d get 30 euros, that’s about $35.”
That makes 350 euros per day !  calculate that in Kenyan shillings !!

‘Hell’

For those who manage to repay their debts, the money they send home can make all the difference.  !!!

And that is what Iam talking about !!

<Attorney General Wako!

Dr Stephen Karanja, in his blog-spot writes that, “In a press statement released by the Attorney General Mr. Amos Wako, it is made clear that only Githongo’s allegations on cover-up and interference with investigation were dismissed. The substantive investigations on the scandal are still on and nobody has been vindicated yet.”

The Kenya media reported that the AG had closed the file and all those who were being accused by Githongo were now cleared. The fact that the whole saga is not clear to the readers, Dr Karanja writes, “our understanding was and rightly so that only the interference with investigation allegations was subject matter of the order. We feel that the media misled the public as to the nature of the order. In future, it would be prudent for the media to use journalists with a legal training to report sensitive legal matters in order to avoid confusion and misunderstanding. In this case, they should have reproduced the Kenya Gazette notice for the readers to see what was said rather than merely interpreting it for them.”

Adding that, “according to Wako therefore only Kiraitu Murungi and David Mwiraria were subject and cleared of the allegations of interference. Moody Awori was not under investigation on these allegations. But Mwiraria and Awori are still under investigations on the substantive charges of corruption in the scandal. Kiraitu is not under investigations on the substantive corruption charges.”

Now that Githongo has come out with new tapes, featuring Mwiraria and Kiraitu, it remains to be seen how the government will deal with the new situation. President Kibaki may also be a victim of Githongoism and hidden tapes yet to be played out in the open.

Wako has survived in Kibaki’s government. When Kibaki took over power, and started removing those who served under former President Moi, many observers thought Wako was going to loose his job.

Kibaki is a strategist. If he had removed Wako and put his own man, it would have been easy to blame him now on the decision taken by the AG’s office on closing the files, and clearing those accused by Githongo.

But because Wako served under Moi, Kibaki can simply say, Wako is doing his job, and he is right to say so, because he did not appoint him in the first place. He simply renewed his appointment from the previous government.

The two men know each other so well and Wako knows how to go about things to guard.

Therefore, Wako is in a better position to protect the previous, and the present leadership from attack on corruption, because he was there then, and he is here now.

Ugandan police are keen to understand the murder of Andrew Kayiira in 1987. Now they have summoned the Democratic Party because the party released their own version of the report on the murder.

According to the New Vision, “the report which DP released in Masaka on January 13 was different from the authentic report handed over by the British government, a copy of which was published by this newspaper. Acting DP Secretary General, Dr. Bayiga Lulume, is expected to report to the Criminal Investigations Department today at 9:00am with their report.”

The police are not happy about the release of the document by the Party. The release has caused uproar within the government ranks and on, “Monday, three other DP officials, the President General Ssebaana Kizito, as well as MPs Issa Kikungwe and Erias Lukwago, were interrogated over the same issue but they refused to hand over the report. They told the Police that their National Executive Council had to decide on the matter, which could take two to four weeks.”

The vision reports that, “at a press conference at City Hall yesterday, the DP remained defiant. “I am under no obligation to report to the Police. I only answer to the National Executive Council and that is my master,” Bayiga said.”

But the police do not take such behaviour lightly and has, “warned DP against defying their orders”, saying, “they should know that by defying Police summons, they will be breaking sections of the law.”

The Police spokesman Edward Ochom has reacted angrily saying, “these people called the authentic report released by the Government fake. They said they had the true report and accused the Police of stopping them from releasing it. Let them bring theirs.”

Also affected are, six journalists of the Daily Monitor. They were picked and questioned, “yesterday for over two hours over a number of stories related to the Kayiira murder. The journalists were Jude Luggya, Robert Mwanje, Michael Ssali, Rodney Muhumuza, Paul Harera and Hussein Bogere.”

Their arrest have come about because, “they wrote stories on the Kayiira report and quoted sources who later denied the reports,” CID investigator Elly Womanya said.”

One of the interrogators, “Jude Luggya, who described the exercise as a friendly interaction, said each of them was questioned on the stories they had written. Mwanje said they were also queried on the authenticity of their stories and their sources of information. The journalists reportedly admitted that they received the other version of the Scotland Yard report from DP and expressed shock over the party’s refusal to release it to the Police.”

The problem with the release of the report is the fact that, “the DP version implicated the Government in the murder of Kayiira, whereas the authentic Scotland Yard report advanced the theory of a robbery gone wrong. The killers took sh20m. Answering a question in the British Parliament on the Kayiira murder on Monday, the British Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs confirmed they had sent the Uganda government a copy of the report.”

The vision has quoted Ian McCartney saying, “following recent allegations regarding Dr. Kayiira’s death, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office assisted the Government of Uganda to obtain another copy of the report from the Metropolitan Police.”

This is a serious allegation that may bring President Museveni’s government down, if indeed it is uncovered that the government was involved in Kayiira’s murder.

Corruption in Europe 

Who can criticise European leaders when they are corrupt? Can African leaders dare criticise European leaders of being corrupt?

Whenever there is corruption in Africa that gets uncovered, we hear of the leaders from developed countries standing up in unity to attack black leaders.

When corruption is uncovered in European countries, we hear no black leaders in unity stand up to attack the white leaders.

This tells a lot about the fear inflicted on that the black people by the white society.

The black man, and woman will always want to be respected, but is not in tune with reality that requires him or her to demand it.

The black people dwell in a continued tradition that allows the white people to force themselves into the Black’s territory, and the black people are sitting there waiting to give them unconditional respect, even when the white is not entitled to respect during that particular moment.

Flying African to Africa 

Fly to Africa using African airlines, in company of white passengers, and see the way you will get treated if you are a black person.

Those in the cabin are black, but in most cases, they will give special services to a white passenger than the black one, even if the black is travelling first class, while the white one is in the second class , having even paid less for the ticket.

It is not the class you are travelling in, or how much you have paid, but the colour of the skin that determines, and it is really disgusting that such behaviour still has to be allowed to continue this century.

Why is the white equalled to God when in Africa? 

In fact we have seen in many occasions, when senior black government ministers, or ambassadors visit a country like Norway, how they are treated disrespectfully.

But when the white ministers and ambassadors are in Africa, they are treated like God, for the simple reason – the skin colour!

Some of the white ambassadors in Africa are quoted often in the media abusing African presidents, acting like they are in Africa to save the African people, and yet they benefit a lot from the black people’s generosity.

And nothing is done about it. APN dreams of a day that an African ambassador in Europe will criticise a white leader for wrong doing.

One thing that is always forgotten is how the white ambassadors live when they are in their own countries.

In most cases, they do not have maids, cooks and gardeners like they afford while in Africa. This is due to costs. To get a cook or gardener in Europe, it would cost them dearly.

Anyone who knows how Europe functions, will agree with APN when it now says that European ambassadors enjoy when in Africa, but when they return to their countries, they sometimes become less entities reduced to travelling by bus and bicycles, while they spend weekends, not bowling like they do when in Africa, but to do laundry and cook their own food. 

This is why the Africans must change their attitude towards the white people. The posh lifestyle remains in Africa.

Who is to blame?

The African is to blame. The African is the causer of such discrimination. If the African could treat his, or her fellow African with respect without having to look at his or her status, Africa and its people will go ahead to become prosperous and successful.

And yet, you will find that the white people, when they arrive in an African airport, are given special treatment, and sometimes do not require to stand in a Que like the black person, who will even be told to give way on the line for the white person to be served first.

APN is not being racist here, but pointing out the facts and would like to see the black people treated with respect and not down-graded every-time everywhere during every occasion.

How long will the African allow this to continue?

It is up to the Africans to take the step. And yet it seems they are satisfied with the status quo! APN is not calling for a protest or revolution. APN is saying it is time the African should wake up and not ask for his or her rights but “take it” and move on!

This world will only be peaceful when all people treat one another with respect deserved. The continued harassment of the black people, and lips service from the white population must stop, but we all know that it will not come to an end as long as the blacks themselves are the cause of their own downfall.

Africa and the African – Wake up and do the right thing. Stop licking the white people’s booths, and demand equality as a human being! If you are not listened to, take it in confidence! The 21 century is your century.

Nelson Mandela!

But can the same heroism be extended to other black leaders by the white member’s House of Commons?

Voting anti-apartheid campaigner former president Nelson Mandela as their biggest hero amounts to respect for the man who stayed in jail for almost 3 decades.

BBC reports that, “of the 150 MPs who took part in the survey for the Independent, 18% backed the former South African president.”

This amounts to pride for Africa coming from the same people who colonised many countries in the continent.

There were others who were fighting to share the votes with Mandela. “Conservative Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and Winston Churchill were in joint second place. Among Labour MPs, NHS architect Aneurin Bevan came out on top, followed by Tony Blair, who got the most backing of any serving politician.”

Former president, “Mr Mandela, one of the world’s most revered statesmen, led the struggle to replace the apartheid regime of South Africa with a multi-racial democracy.”

After serving in jail, he was released and emerged stronger taking over as the first black South African President.

He is a respected figure. “Among his awards he counts the Nobel Peace Prize and Amnesty International’s most prestigious human rights award.”

Some of the UK leaders cannot march Mandela in leadership skills. “Tory leader David Cameron received the vote of just one Conservative MP, while another Tory named Mr Blair as their favourite. Baroness Thatcher was the top choice among the Conservatives as a whole. Cuba’s communist leader Fidel Castro – who is understood to be gravely ill – got the backing of another, Labour, MP.”

According to BBC, “Andrew Hawkins, chief executive of CommunicateResearch, who carried out the research in June 2006, said: “When it comes to hero worshipping, MPs revert to their parties’ icons”, and Hawkins says, ”What’s striking is the low scores for serving politicians – with the notable exception of Tony Blair.”

A lawyer in Nairobi has lost his case in the court and is now to pay former president more than 100 million Kenya shillings.

The Standard reports that, “in a consent entered on Tuesday at the Milimani Commercial Courts, Mr Kenneth Kiplagat will return the money he has been holding for years. Moi gave the money to the lawyer to buy him shares at the New Kenya Cooperative Creameries (New KCC), but the lawyer formed a company called Cherry-hill Limited, which he used to invest the money at New KCC.”

When the lawyer registered the shares he made sure Moi’s name was omitted. He made himself the director.

 It is reported that, “when the National Rainbow Coalition (Narc) came into power, it reverted New KCC to State ownership and refunded those who had bought shares in the company. The lawyer did not, however, remit the money to Moi.”

When Moi did not get any money he took the matter, “to court to compel Kiplagat to give back the money. In the consent entered, High Court Judge, Justice Hatari Waweru ordered the lawyer to pay an extra Sh4.5 million to Moi. However, Justice Waweru asked the lawyers to amend the consent so that it includes the names of those involved.”

The list, “will include Moi and the lawyers acting for him, Katwa and Kemboy, Mr Kiplagat and the two law firms holding the money, Mungai Miriu and Company and Kipkenda Lilian Advocates. The amended consent will be taken before the same judge when it is ready.”

The lawyer decided to be arrogant when he refused to pay Moi the money. He knew that Moi could not order him arrested now that he was no longer the head of the country. He may have thought that Kibaki government would interfere and have the courts to rule against the former president.

Now he has to pay more than he wanted to steal from Moi. The lawyer, Kiplagat is from the same Kalenjin tribe as the former president.

It is good news now that the Somali government is planning to start talks that could see the country embark on the much needed reconstruction of the country.

The Kenya government has confirmed that one of the Islamist Courts leaders, Sheikh Sharrif Ahmed, arrested in Northern Kenya recently after he surrendered is being held in undisclosed location.

The confirmation came about as the Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Ghedi was in Nairobi asking Kenya to hand over all those arrested by the Kenyan authorities when they crossed the border. The Prime Minister has been quoted saying all the Islamists, if handed over by Kenya will not be persecuted.

He says the government wants peace and for that reason, his government will start talks with the Islamist leaders and their supporters soon.

This is in line with the pressure by the Americans who have been telling the Somali government to talk to the Islamists.

Ghedi pointed out that his interim government now has full control over the whole country. The government has appointed a Mayor and a deputy for Mogadishu and plans plans to post District Commissioners to different parts of the country.

When this is done, Somalia might return to peace that it has longed for in many years after former president Siad Barre was removed from power.

The country will also have a new Speaker of the national assembly within a week. The former speaker was sacked due to his failure to support the government’s initiatives.

Ghedi has called on the international community to help his country restore peace.
