A political message to Martin Mule from Dr McOminde

Posted by African Press International on August 17, 2007

Dear Martin Mule,

Thanks for your narative that has made me even not understand what you meant to say.

Anyway your long, endless and boring story has nothing but protective and deffensive visonarry statements meant to protect tribalists and Kikuyu thieves in Kenya. Futher more this is un ethical statement ever to be aired to Educated people online.

Please can you once more refraine from being paragmatic than real in what you talk to the Public. I know you sound sympathetic to Kibaki and His Mount Kenya ” Mungiki” who have eroded his political pride to shame.

But all in all you know very well that Kenyans will never forgive Kikuyus (Kenyatta’s Tribe) for all that they have done to them for the last 40 years, from bank robbery, public theft, in-just public service recruitment, land grabbing, political assassinations, and the list goes on…………!!!

Anyway you are very lucky to have been brood from that cult of corrupt family, thus why you can have the guts of protecting this culprits, when we are actually trying to bring them to book.

Anyway let me remind you that the only way foward to successfull MDG’s and NEPAD’s African Peer Review Mechanism success is through Raila Odinga, the most honest and uncorrupt Kenyan to be in Presidential race. May you will bebrave and repent! GOD BLESS KENYA

After ODM-Kenya breakdown serious politics begin – Kalenjins re-group, Luhyias join the fold, Kambas expected to join.

Posted by African Press International on August 17, 2007

Editorial: Now that Willian Ruto has met with Biwott, things will happen within the Kalenjin community. They will unite and vote as a block. We are now seeing a coalition government coming whereby Kibaki retains the presidency, Biwott taking the vice-presidency. Kalonzo, Ruto, Uhuru, Mohamood of North Easternand Kombo getting important ministries. We all know that the Kalenjins will not give the Luos the presidency. Likewise, the North Eastern populated by Samali origins and central province populated by the Kikuyus. Eastern province populated by the Kambaswould rather join the Kikuyu leadership. The Western province populated by the Luhyias say it is time for them to take over the leadership of the country, so there is no way they will back the Luos.

Where does this leave Raila and the Luo community? Interesting time coming! Get fragmented facts from the nation.ke story below! API*APN editorial.Story by NATION Reporter

The split of the Orange Democratic Movement due to intense rivalry between Mr Raila Odinga and Mr Kalonzo Musyoka has sparked a flurry of talks on the forging of new alliances.

Representatives of two major voting blocs from western Kenya have been holding meetings in Nairobi on their next course of action.

The meetings have brought together MPs from the Kalenjin and  Luhya communities, some of whom have not been seeing eye to eye over political differences. The past three days have seen leaders from the two communities holding separate meetings to forge strategies on how to approach the General Election scheduled for December.

New direction

Twenty four Kalenjin MPs, including bitter foes, re-grouped on Wednesday evening and vowed to chart a new political direction for the community to ensure its full return to the government after the elections.

And yesterday, 18 Luhya MPs, including three Cabinet ministers, buried their differences and met in Nairobi to review the communitys stand on national politics. They also vowed to ensure that they will be in next government, come what may. The happenings took key presidential aspirants Odinga and Musyoka campaign teams and even President Mwai Kibaki’s by surprise. The three have all been angling for support from Rift Valley and Western Province for success in the December poll.

The Kalenjin MPs meeting at International Bible School on Dennis Pritt Road in Nairobi, brought together Rift Valley political king-pins Nicholas Biwott, Kipruto Kirwa, Gideon Moi and William Ruto.

The MPs vowed to rally their community to vote as a bloc. A committee was formed to help read the mood on the ground to help the MPs decide who to support.

Sources said the Kalenjin unity meeting was the initiative of Mr Ruto and Mr Kirwa following changing political scenarios in Rift Valley.

Mr Ruto, the Kanu secretary-general and ODM presidential aspirant and Mr Kirwa (Narc Kenya vice-chairman) first met last month and agreed to work for Kalenjin unity for a better bargaining power. Asked about the Wednesday evening meeting, Mr Biwott only said it was a family gathering. Families always unite. The meeting is part of family unity, he said.

Mr Kirwa said the impending Parliament recess, agriculture and development issues in Rift Valley were discussed.

Mr Ruto and Buret MP Paul Sang said the Kalenjin MPs had resolved to hold regular consultative meetings. We want to participate in shaping the future of this country, Mr Ruto said.

The leaders said they did not want to be locked out of government next year.

They gave an example of Cabinet minister Simeon Nyachae’s Ford People which, they said, despite opposing Narc in 2002 elections, had managed to secure key Cabinet and other positions in the Kibaki Government of National Unity.

Commentary: Why I think Luos hate Kikuyus

Posted by African Press International on August 17, 2007

All Luos hate/fear Kikuyus. Raila is no exception.

Actually Raila demolishing houses’s is the only thing most of us remember of him in his short stint as Minister for Roads and Public works. And of course returning money meant for Roads construction back to the then finance minister Mwiraria.

But as he goes out campaigning he reminds “the Orange crowds” everyday that he is part and parcel of President Kibaki’s Government success, or that he played a part, though he never says what it is that he really did.

Like MOST of you Luos, he is driven by fear and Jealousy towards themillions Kikuyus out there.

Now he has the Kambas to worry about too – quite a Nationalist this Raila?

UN mission in Liberia extends stay till country recovers security

Posted by African Press International on August 17, 2007

Monrovia (Liberia) The fifteenth progress report of the UN Secretary General on the UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) says the UN peacekeeping force will remain in the country until the Liberian governments capacity to defend itself is fully in place, APA has learnt.

Briefing reporters on the progress report published Wednesday at the UN headquarters in New York, the head of the UN Mission in Liberia, Alan Doss, said the strength of UN troops will be 9,000 while the UN formed police will be 742 by 2010.

The drawdown plan was only an adjustment, but UN troops will still be maintained across the country until completion of the training of the national police and its deployment throughout the country, as well as the training of the first and second battalions of the national army, the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), he said.

Ambassador Doss dismissed rumours that UNMIL was pulling out of the country.

He recalled that in July 2007, UNMIL completed the basic training of 3,500 personnel of the Liberia national police and would complete the police operational procedures as well as finalise the national security strategy and its implementation throughout the country in December 2008.

“UNMIL would complete the formation of a 500 strong Police Quick Reaction Unit in December 2009, while the training of the first and second batches of the AFL would take effect by September 2008,” Doss added .

According to the UNMIL boss, the deployment of the police to the various counties would take place in December 2010.

The UN Secretary Generals Special Representative urged the government to institute reform policies, strengthen its judicial system and put in place basic social infrastructures.

Such initiatives would promote economic growth and ensure the creation of employment as well as genuine reconciliation so that the governments poverty reduction strategy would be actualised, he concluded.

Wives of SADC leaders doing their own things: Visiting childrens village in Lusaka

Posted by African Press International on August 17, 2007

APA-Lusaka (Zambia) First ladies from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states Thursday paid a brief visit to the SOS Childrens Village in the Zambian capital Lusaka, where they made a cash donation of US$8,500 to the children.

The ladies, led by their host Maureen Mwanawasa, arrived at the village in the afternoon following the opening ceremony of the SADC leaders summit earlier in the day.

Upon arrival, SOS national director Florence Phiri took the VIP guests on tour of the facility.

The guests were then entertained to song and dance by children from the village.

Lesotho First Lady Mathato Mosisili said she was happy at the way the children were being looked after at the village.

The First Ladies are also the mothers of the region, so it is very good that they have taken time off to visit their children, she said.

Phiri said SOS Trust was looking after 48,000 children in the region. The trust was dedicated to uplifting the lives of the children under its care by providing for their daily needs, including education.

First Ladies from Angola, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, South Africa and Mozambique made the visit to the village.

Moi dismisses ODM, calling it a tribal outfit

Posted by African Press International on August 17, 2007

By Lucianne Limo

A day after ODM-Kenya split, retired President Moi reiterated his stand on the Orange parties.

“Whether ODM or ODM-Kenya, I totally reject both of them. They are all tribal parties,” Moi said.

The former President asked Kenyans to shun them, adding he would remain in Kanu because the party reflected a symbol of unity and was friendly to all.

“I am like your father and asking me to support ODM is like asking me to support a tribal organisation against another tribe. I would be mad to do that,” he added.

Moi said the parties had no political agenda for Kenyans.

“These political organisations have no manifesto and have not told Kenyans what they will do for them. All we hear is an individual dictating his own agenda and what he will offer once they get to power,” Moi said.

The former President said he would announce his preferred presidential candidate when the time comes.

“Dont push me, I will make my statement when the time comes,” he said.

Moi also remained non-committal on the debate on the Media Bill that seeks to compel editors to reveal their sources if stories become matters in court.

Watu wameongea na mimi sitasema kitu (People have spoken and I will not add anything),” Moi said.

He was speaking at his Kabarnet Gardens residence after receiving an invitation from Rotary International to address them on peace in Africa at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre, Nairobi, on September 18.

Moi, who was appointed Kenyas peace envoy for Southern Sudan, said peace was very important for any country to develop.

He regretted that Western countries were developing while Africans engaged in fighting, a setback to development.

“If poverty and fighting are rampant, naturally the common man will not live freely and happily,” Moi said.

Musalia Mudavadi can save ODM, not Raila

Posted by African Press International on August 17, 2007

The line up Eldoret North MP Mr William Ruto crafted cannot win ODM victory.

The architects of the line up that presents Mr Raila Odinga as presidential candidate, Mr Musalia Mudavadi and Mrs Charity Ngilu as co-running mates and Ruto as prime minister did their best.

However, it is not a winning formula. To beat President Kibaki, the method must lock him out of the Luhya vote.

But the line up leaves a loophole, which could see Kibaki scoop votes in some parts of Western Province.

The winning formula is this: Mudavadi for President, Kalonzo for VP, Raila for PM and Ruto for deputy PM and Finance minister.

The Luo, Kalenjin and Kamba votes are out of Kibakis reach. Add the Luhyas and Kibaki is out of State House.
