The Church of Uganda has resolved to not to attend the global Anglican bishops conference in Lambeth, London, scheduled for August this year, Archbishop Most Rev Henry Luke Orombi said on Thursday.

Speaking to journalists in Kampala, Orombi said his church cannot attend a conference with churches that support homosexuality.

He said that in 1998 the Lambeth conference passed a resolution not to support homosexuality and, as Church of Uganda, they need this problem to be sorted out immediately.

A conference of the Anglican Church meets at Lambeth Palace, London, about every ten years to deal with doctrinal, disciplinary, and ecumenical matters, as well as missionary responsibilities.

9,100 persons have so far died in Togo since the first case of HIV Aids was discovered in 1987, Augustine Kokouvi Dokla, President of the Togolese Network of Association of persons suffering from HIV Aids in Togo confirmed to-day in an interview.
More than 110,000 persons are suffering from the HIV Aids pandemic out of a population of 5 million , Togos National Aids Commission has confirmed . This works up to about 3,2 per cent of the population. Dokla says 17,370 victims need treatment but in 2007 , only 7,892 victims had access to Anti Retroviral Drugs. He describes the situation as very , very serious .
It will be recalled that the HIV Aids patients organised sit-ins in front of parliament House , and other strategic points in Lom capital in December last year trying to draw the attention of the people of Togo , and the entire world to what they described as the chronic shortage of Anti-retroviral drugs in Togo which has put our lives in stress and grave danger.
The HIV-Aids patients were carrying placards some of which read , SAVE US FROM DYING SLOWLY , GIVE TREATMENT TO 18,000 SUFFERERS of HIV/ Aids VICTIMS, WE APPEAL TO PRESIDENT FAURE TO SAVE OUR LIVES, and WHERE ARE THE HIV DRUGS?
Last month, the Togolese authorities held an urgent Round-Table Donors Conference to raise 1,2 million US Dollars for the treatment of 4,000 Aids victims .
