API excelling high as the year 2009 opens tomorrow and API will focus on delivering proof on the Michelle Obama tape saga and the Imam-Obama document in the next few days

Posted by African Press International on January 1, 2009

korir-api-chief-editor<Chief Editor Korir (left) wishes all the readers, a happy and prosperous year 2009.

In the last 3 months, API has excelled high in the blogsphere and has continued so, uninterupted, being mentioned daily in many news organizations/channels online. Out of 3 million blogs, API was recently rated number 19900 in popularity of being mentioned worldwide daily and this is very encouraging and we hope it continues in the same way this coming year 2009.

API is open to any form of criticism and believes that all kind of publicity, bet itbad or good depending on who is getting the information, and depending on whether the information about API or API folks is written by API’s enemies or friends, in our own eyesenhances API’s work and makes API known world-wide. Something we in API do cherish.

There are those who thought API was closing down and to their disappointment we are growing stronger as the days go by and will continue running two websites also in 2009. We are happy that WordPress did not listen to our enemies who worked tiredlessly to have us closed and have let us retain our site after reviewing the case.

The US politics caused approar and many did not know how to deal with us as we continued to pour news about the US leadership and the elections. This is something we will do also in the coming year, and surelyto the detriment of those who would have liked to see us loosing our WordPress site and to close down.

The Michelle Obama tape and the Imam document will be our focus in the next few weeks and the documents of proof on the two stories will be displayed for all readers to see and digest.

API started the stories and will close them with clear proof in order to ashame those who thought it was either a scam or a hoax.

We will open the year with the real facts on the Michelle tape and the Imam-Obama document and will ensure that readers get the real picture of what we have had in store, so that they may realise that API does not deal with hoaxering and scammering

The documentation will go along way to prove the relationship that was between Fox News Network, The US lawyers and the the Canadian lawyers. API will produce evidence of the tape and the Imam document alongside the agreements signed by MBOs, the USand Canadianlawyers in our effort to release the tape and the now famous Imam-Obama document.

API will also make sure that the readers get the correct information on where the meetings took place, between whom and what actually took place during the meetings.

People will finally realise that API has been working very hard behind the scenes with a very good intention. API will produce proof of all agreements so that the readers may understand that they were not taken for a ride by anybody in API, but that the plans were sabotaged by prominent personalities in the US and Canada who wanted to benefit from the stories. They will realise that the blame of not releasing the tape and documents to this day is due our American and Canadian contacts who chose to let us down having decided to give priority to themselves and their interests to make money.

The law firms in the US and Canada that sabotaged the release of the tape for their own selfish intentions will be exposed.

There are those among API readers (enemies) who think that we are about to hide ourselves and close down our activities. They will be very disappointed in 2009 because we will be very much active than we have been in 2008 and will dwell on high sensitive political issues touching on world security and governance. We are simply saying we are here to stay and those who are bothered by our existence may put their tail between their legs and surrender or continue to imagine and wish that we disappear from the scene, something we now tell them will not happen.

API closes this year in pride and enters the new year in pride for having managed the almost-thought impossible, to become the most mentioned blog/ Online News Channel throughout the world. This has given API encouragement to continue in the same spirit and to expose more sensitive stories in the coming year 2009

We are aware that there will be those who will criticise the way we operate, and yet we believe in freedom of speech so much that we welcome them to dig on us throughout 2009 and onwards. For us, the enemy interest to bring us down, gives us challenge to focus ahead and not accept to be defeated by evil doers whose thoughts are steered by jealousy. We do not want the enemies to run short of what to write or dig about us,so that they keep focusing on our activities, and API gets the opportunity to be mentioned in a wider range also in 2009. We will give them something new to chew each time we notice they are drying up on whatto occupy themselves with in their efforts to malign our names. API will not be cowed by any one in the year 2009 just like we did not allow any cowring by anyone in 2008.

We love what we do and will continue doing what we are best in doing, “ensuring that there are enough stories worth getting occupied with whenever necessary” so that our readers are not bored in any way.

In 2009, our stories will educate the masses, encouragepeople to stop envy and carry own livingtheir lives instead ofdwelling in ignorance by botheringprogressive human beings and institutions like API.

API stories in 2009 will also be very entertaining to the readers just like it was last year.

End.

We all know that the foundations of the convenience we enjoy today in the developed world were laid down by men who had vision and dreams of what we have now

Posted by African Press International on January 1, 2009

Posted by David Bett

Dear all

As we come to the new year just like we have done throughout generations, I have been burdened by many questions. Africa does not seem to get better. What is going on? We all know that the foundations of the convenience we enjoy today in the developed world were laid down by men who had vision and dreams of what we have now. If they had been selfish or visionless, we would not be crossing the oceans or flying the skies or even using the modern technologies.

We must keep in mind that the revolutions never happened in a day, successive generations built upon the previous with improvements each time and getting better.

It is a tragedy that in Africa, nothing is built to last. Corruption, greed and selfishness are eating away the continent inside out. There is a need for a new generation of leaders with higher value system, dreams and visions for the future of the continent and its posterity.

Africa is a continent of consumers of otherʼs sweat and dreams? Someone has to change the value system of the continent.

We need a clear goal, well defined and to be achieved in a time period. A deadly revolution will be inevitable in the next ten years if no progress shapes up. We can no longer watch helplessly as the worst builds up. Thousands of the new generation are, every year planning migrations into the developed west to enjoy its convenience. I am left wondering about those who could not migrate. Think about it! Kenya currently is planing to lease out to Qutar government while its citizens have no food. Is selling out our land for 50 years the best leadership they could provide? Think again about it!!

As a student of the word, I am aware that the world will not get better, however, we do not know how long we will be on this earth. We still have the responsibility of being good stewards of God’s earth, ourselves and all that it entails. God never created us to be a disgrace to the rest of the world as is currently the case. Africa must re-establish its value systems and stop being mere parasites and scum of the universe. God made us better than that.

Happy and hopeful prosperous New 2009 and wish you all success in initiating a revolution in the society.
God bless all

ODM FACES A BLEAK FUTURE IN SOUTH RIFT AND NYANZA REGIONS OVER ITS FLAWED ELECTIONS.

Posted by African Press International on January 1, 2009

News Analysis By Leo Odera Omolo in Kericho Town.

DESPITE the Orange Democratic Movement {ODM}having successfully completed its grass root and national elections discontent is continuing in several branches and regions in the Rift Valley and Nyanza Provinces.

These discontent poses real threats to the ODM existence and pointing out fingers to the direction of a possible fallout and disintegration. The disquiet call for an immediate intervention by the partys top brass.

Before the party National Delegates Conference held at the Bomas of Kenya, several branches were subjected to unnecessary polls repeats, which eventual became meaningless because in the final act, several branches in Nyanza and some parts of the South Rift regions were forced to adopt what is commonly known as Power Sharing on 50-50 basis.

The system brought on board, even people who did not take part in the party grass root polls, It made many ODM members, especially those who were genuinely elected by the party members at the grass roots disgusted.

It later emerged that those branches which were subjected to uncalled for polls repeats, did not elected the wanted men and women in other words politically correct individuals with tested loyality to the party leader Raila Odinga. Other branches had their elections nullified and repeat exercise ordered because the voters had voted in wrong people.

It happened because the persons classified by the pro-Odingas elements both locally and at the partys Orange House, Nairobi perceived them not to allied to Mr. Odingas inner circle.

It has since emerged that when delegates from Nyanza and some parts of the Rift Valley, especially those who were elected and were therefore eligible to represent their branches at the National Delegates Conference at Bomas of Kenya arrived at the meeting venue, they were shocked when they were confronted with a different set of lists prepared at the headquarters by a clique in collaborations with officials headed by the party director of elections Eng.Phillip Okoth Okundi.and Ms Janet Ongera.

Most of the new lists consist of names of ;people who had lost the election at the grass roots. There were also names of stranger who did not take part at the grass root elections

And these were the same people who were imposed as delegates on a 50-50 power sharing system.

Branches in Nyanza which had their elections nullified and a repeat ordered because they did not pick up Raila Odingas favourite persons include Rongo, Karachuonyo, Nyakach,Ndhiwa, Rangwe and other places. Strangers had their names included in the lists of delegates despite of the repeated polls in which they were rejected by the party members.

MPs from the region also came to Bomas of Kenya armed with their own parallel lists. Most of these lists contained their names of their political cronies and sycophants. The whole exercise and process became a total confusion, but people who are conversant with Raila s political operations says that is the his style of leadership.

The outcome of the ODM national elections has also revealed that the discontent and political differences between the Prime Minister and the South Rift MPs is far from over, though his latest soften stand on the contentious Mau Forest Complex appeared to have smoothened relations, the elections have visited another serious area of disagreement.

Discontent about the ODM continued everywhere with leaders from the Kipsigis community in the South Rift. This community maintain that its leaders were short-changed once again.

ODM luminaries in the South Rift region revealed at the weekend that they were considering other options as far as their relations with the ODM is concerned. They were considering plans to retreat to chart a new political course.

Chepalungu MP ISAAC Ruto and his Kipkellion counterpart Magerer Langat and the Bomet Mayor Leonard Barsumek together with 28 civic leaders from the region who includede chairmen of Council fired the first salvos in which they confirmed their plan for the retreat.

The two MPs and their supporters said they were firm and made it clear that leaders in the South Rift region were in the process of charting a new course of political realignment with the view to ensure that they teamed up the party that would cater for the best interests of the Kipsigis community.

They insisted that despite of an assurance issued by Buret MP Franklin Bett who said that Kalenjin politicians were not keen on quitting the ODM.. Moreover these were Betts personal views. He does not necessarily represent the view of the entire Kalenjin political leadership, therefore he is just a lone ranger and an opportunist or self-seeker, remarked one Kericho politician., who preferred to maintain his anonymity.

Bett had said that those dessenting views were afew disgruntled elements who should be ignored.

Bett who was speaking at a function in Mabinju in Rarieda district assured the party leader Raila Odinga that the Kalenjin community would not ditch the ODM as claimed by a few Rift Valley leaders. He said Kalenjin were firm in ODM by choice and would support it in the year 2012.

We just come from KANU the other day and therefore cannot jump out of ODM simply because one or two people have said so, Bett was quoted by the media houses as saying so. He added that ODM triumph in the recent by-elections in Sotik and Bomet constituencies was a testimony that Kalenjin were firm behind Raila Odinga.

But Betts views were immediately dismissed as those of a lone ranger perhaps lobbying for cabinet appointment. Why did he gave such assurances to Mr. Odinga only when addressing a function in the Prime Ministers home turf of Bondo? And not in Kiopsigis land? Posed a Kericho politician.

But MPs Isaac Ruto {Chepalungu} and Magerer Langat {Kpjkellion} while addressing another function in Sotik constituency, Sotik district, insisted that their c ommunity was being sidelined and margionalised by the ODM, something which they were not ready to stomach anymore.

We have been sidelined as a region and I wonder how the party expect the South Rift region to support it in 2012 general elections,Ruto told his audience.

Ruto claimed that during the recent ODM polls, delegates from the Rift Valley Provinces were confronted with a list prepared by a clique of party big wigs. We were told the list is final, but when we pointed out that the South Rift had been marginalized no one wanted to listen to us,said Ruto.

Ruto who at the same time disclosed that he was interested in the party post of ther national organizing secretary further explained that some branches in the South Rift were subjected to unnecessary repeated polls ahead of the National Delegates Conference. The allocation of the national posts caused a big rift between the leaders from the North and South Rift over claims that those from the North had been favored.

While the bnational chairman of the ODM Henry Kosgei and the party deputy leader William Ruto are from the Nandi sub-tribe in the North Rift, the Siouth Rift was allocated the position of the deputy national; organizing secretary which went to Benjamin Langat the MP for Ainamoi. He was the only person whio landed a junior post from the South Rift.

When we raised the issue of disparity we were never given enough explanation to our satisfaction, said Magerer Langat.

Bomet Mayor Barsumek who was flanked by 28 civic leaders from the region and several chairmen of the councils who included Coun. John Kalya {Bomet County Council], David Langat {Bureti} and Stanley Cheruiyot {Litein} said the Kipsigis had been duped by the ODM party leaders. We went Bomas with open mind to exercise our democratic rights to vote, but the party resorted to use acclamation, he said, adding that this was a total mockery to democracy.

The ODM leaders need to wake up, because two other rival parties are progressively making major inroads into the South Rift region, and its leaders were not careful enough and change their tactics of short-changing the regions leaders, it could be over taken by event, which consigned it to a political limbo come the year 2012..

The arrogance which is displayed by the ODM is technically giving the room for the newly formed Nicholas Biwotts led National Visionary Party of Kenya and the United Democratic Movement {UDM}

Another threat is coming from KANU, which is still a force to reckon with in the region, but given the recent utterances of the party national chairman Uhuru Kenyatta which fabvoured the PNU, KANU stands no chance of regaining its lost glory, though the population among members of the Kipsigis community still respect the retired President Daniel Arap Moi, the new party lineup betrays it.

KANU could have been on its way to full recovery had its leaders kicked out Uhuru Kenyatta who lacked a clear cut policy, but insist in aligning the party to PNU, a party, which the community associated with the Mt Kenya politicians.

At the moment UDM< seemed to be the party of choice in the South Rift, though the rumour making the round is that it is working closely with the ODM.

Another popular views among the Kipsigis people is that the community want to be inside the next government, and would therefore persue any direction which could lead them to achieve their dream. Biwott is linked to the 2007 campaign for Kibaki re-elections and as such he is seen as playing the tune of PNU tactics in Kalenjin region, while the UDM appeared to be much more ctredible.

The ducking Bush in Iraq

Posted by African Press International on January 1, 2009

The man they love to hate

IRAQ/BUSH-SHOEVideo frame grab of U.S. President George W. Bush (L) ducking from a shoe during a news conference in Baghdad December 14, 2008. An Iraqi reporter called visiting U.S. President Bush a “dog” in Arabic on Sunday and threw his shoes at him during a news conference in Baghdad. Iraqi security officers and U.S. secret service agents leapt at the man and dragged him struggling and screaming out of the room where Bush was giving a news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. In Summary

  • How can he address other presidents as if he owns the world? Chavez wonders about Bush

The president robustly threw a bold stare at the audience, paused and with their full attention on his next statement, he blurted out: address other presidents as if heThe devil came here yesterday! And it smells of sulphur till today… How can he address other presidents as if he owns the world?

That was President Hugo Chavez of oil-rich Venezuela addressing the UN General Assembly on just who he thought US President George Walker Bush is. Bush had addressed the same meeting the day before.

Chavez wasnt through. He stunned delegates again when he acknowledged that he had a warm relationship with former president Bill Clinton. But on Bush, he bellowed: With this cowboy, you cant even talk he even stole the elections.

Chavez, whose country is the fourth largest exporter of oil to the US, is just one of the people who have never agreed with Bush on anything.

At one time, he blamed the UN for being an arm of the US and even proposed to offer Caracas, the Venezuelan capital, to be its headquarters as the way it (UN) is, there is no way to save it (from US influence).

Definitely the most powerful man alive, Bush has stepped on the toes of many presidents, especially from oil-rich countries.

In the process, he has earned so many enemies that even a fortnight ago, his retinue of security agents had never imagined that the presidents enemies could include journalists.

A fortnight ago, he ducked two shoes hurled at him by an enraged Iraq journalist, Muntadar al-Zaidi of Al-Baghdadiya TV, who called him dog, during a press conference alongside Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki.

Again, Chavez was the first and only international leader to publicly paised the journalists attack. What courage! he said of Zaidis onslaught. Though he said it was very funny, he added that the action was courageous and acting for the Iraq people.

Bush is the man Iraqis blame for all misery they are suffering since the US invaded the country five years ago.

Early this month, he regreted having waged a war in Iraq and said it was the most unfortunate event in his eight-year rule.

Perceived to be overbearing and egoistic, he has come in conflict with several world leaders, especially those who think Western powers should not interfere with their own internal affairs.

He attacked Iraq in 2003, accusing strong man Saddam Hussein of making chemical and biological weapons and of having links with the al Qaeda terrorist network.

He was so keen to distort intelligence reports to justify the attack that he is said to have ignored a plea by Saddam that he could go to exile if compensated with $1 (Sh80) billion.

Saddam wont change. Time has come to get rid of him. Thats the way it is, he had said after a meeting in Texas with then Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar where the offer plea was presented.

And in a televised address to Americans in March, 2003, Bush urged the Iraq military not to defend their commander-in-chief.

Do not fight for a dying regime. Saddam is not worth your own life, he added, This man (Saddam) is insane. He is a dangerous man. We should force him out now.

In 2002, he had expressed hatred for Saddam in the Senate and tried to justify war against him, After all, this is the guy who tried to kill my father. Bush Senior, who helped to drive Iraq forces out of Kuwait in 1990, was targeted during a visit to Kuwait during Bill Clintons tenure.

Former Cuban strongman Fidel Castro also had very little respect for Bush. He was more vicious against the man he said had fooled some people all the time, and all people part of the time but could never fool all the people all the time.

Castro was enraged when Bush declared: Long live free Cuba, after Castro transferred power to his brother Raul.

A frail Castro said from his hospital bed: I cant imagine such words from the mouth of a whole US president, a whole 139 years later.

Cuba gained independence from Spain in 1878. When Bush said in 2004 that Cuba was a growing sex tourist destination, Castro wrote a letter to him accusing the US of playing the Holy God nation while it had a more thriving sexual and human trafficking industry.

EXPANSION OF KISUMU AIRPORT TRANSFORMS SLEEPY VILLAGES .

Posted by African Press International on January 1, 2009

BY BENJAMIN OCHIENG

Residents of Korando and Kogony that live around the Kisumu airport are optimistic that the expansion of the airport to international level would boost and change the living of the locals.

The exercise that begun in September by setting up of the contractors base which constitutes offices, power center and a temporary landing zone for choppers at Riat on Kisumu Busia highway has greased the wheels of business at Bandani, Kirembe, Otonglo and Riat villages.

The Covec firm managed by the Chinese has provided employment to hundreds of formerly idling men to clear bushes in their step 1.

Since the exercise ignited on high tone, the bushes that provided hiding grounds for criminals who persistently robbed passersby off their valuables or enjoyed the monopoly of hiding stolen properties like fridges, radios, video decs and to puke a few in these grounds as they pursue for buyers need to shun or else their days are red carded.

It is in these bushes of shame that school girls, their mothers have occasionally been impregnated after rape ordeals. But airport police currently dominated the area on 24 clock to take charge.

But unblinked eyes are not only glued to the criminals of Kogony and Korando. The extension of the airport would also mark the end of orgy act where parents routinely woke up in the morning and headed into these bushes then after a short squat, they stand up, dress after, as children ape.

The Ministry of health and Public health services headed by Prof. Anyang Nyongo and Beth Mugo now demands that they construct modern toilets, latrines to avoid diseases like cholera and bilharzia.

The location can be mistaken to be a section of Webuye paper mills because the scattered human waste send bad smell into the fresh air to pollute the environment as the National Environmental Management NEMA sleeps.

Lastly, widows and poor parents who have for many years sent their children into this thicket to search for firewood, sell in the market to place food on their table or use in cooking, will have to either look for an alternative work or dig deep into their pockets to purchase the scarcity commodity
