Sarkozy may be getting out of the French politics. He lost the first round Sunday to Hollande. The two will now battle out in the second round within a month.
There were 9 Presidential candidates with the far right party candidate against immigration becoming number 3 during this first vote.
Sarkozy was the man who engineered the toppling and killing of the Libya former leader Muammar Gaddafi. He and the British Prime Minister David Cameron pushed for the removal of Gaddafi and went ahead to fund the rebels.
Some western countries joined them later and within time, the rebels were aided to victory.
