The Transitional Authority has approved the recruitment of the interim county transitional team which is expected to be in office in a week’s time.

Amid opposition from some governor candidates, the authority announced that they had hired around thirty officials for every county.

According to the authority chairman Kinuthia Wamwangi, the team composed of senior government officials had been seconded to the Counties.

Kinuthia noted that it will be up to the governors on election to decide if to maintain the officers or advertise for the positions afresh.

He assured the candidates that the newly recruited officers had been vetted adding that their performance was not in doubt.

The chairman was speaking to the press in Great Rift Valley Lodge Naivasha after opening the two-day national conference for gubernatorial candidates.

Speaking during the workshop, the chairman noted that the authority needed Sh5B to create a register for all government and county assets.

The chairman of the commission for the implementation of the constitution (CIC) Charles Nyachae who was the chief guest expressed his fears if the devolved government would work well.

He expressed his reservations over the preparedness noting that the new entrants would have hard days and high expectations.
